MensajeTema: Rear detail!   Jue 20 Sep 2007, 11:55 pm

Hola Panas!,

Almost done with the rear half of the Tank cheers Then it's on to the front...Or the Turret? I can't decide. Maybe we should have a Poll?

So, first I snipped off the sprue ends.

Then I planed them down with a small chiesel. Followed by sanding. Next I used a little Mr Surfacer to check my work.

Now that Andres trick has saved me from un-wanted holes, we can move on to finishing the details! sun

First, a bracket for the Fire Extinguisher was made from .010X.040 Styrene.

And now the Extinguisher.

A tiny piece of Styrene was added for the clasp

And there we are done!

Handles were added to the Engine covers, as was done earlier. The panel is still loose to facilitate access......

The Tools ready to install. The Prybar is from the kit, with the clasps removed. The other is Scratch, from .030 Brass. Easier than cleaning the kit part.

My plan for this build was to avoid Aftermarket parts. Don't get me wrong, I love that stuff. pena I just wanted to do this one with scratch built parts only. To this end, I spent about an hour trying to make tool brackets out of Styrene......It did not work out so well as I had hoped.
then I remembered that I had some old P/E leftovers! idea

I used sections of the centers between the actual parts, and bent them to match my referances.

Stretched sprue was used to make the Tiny Pins.......Madness! sun But it looks cool! Cool

Just a little left to do, Then its on to the front! Or the Turret.......or something sa

Thanks for looking pena

Best Regards,
Mi Amigos!
John

Hola David,

Yes, That dog is Loco!! He must be watched closely, as must this one

The Firefly is probably my favorite of the Commonwealth tanks, After the Crusader, of coarse. The Tasca kit is Gorgeous... Sadly the Dragon Wagon is not as nice. I hope Tamiya will do one in 1/48!!!!!

When will we see your Firefly, David? :bounce:

And no fear, no new projects (except one secret one) until the Crusader is done............

Cheers,
John

Hola Sergio,

I know what you mean! I used to work at a Body Shop. We had a Cockatoo who would rip parts off cars if we did not keep an eye on him star He used to steal my tools!

But he was friendly and a lot of fun so he was part of the crew. pena

Cheers,
John

The Dog came with a Resurection of Monstress figure by Yasushi Nirasawa. A Warewolf girl with a Guitar and Amps and wild little Dogs

These are pictures I found on the Internet.

I do not have the figure anymore, but I kept one Wild Puppy

MensajeTema: Done.....with the rear, at least   Vie 28 Sep 2007, 5:50 am

Panas,
Not much work done this week....... But a little progress, and the back of the Tank is done cheers

I like to replace the kit wood blocks with real wood. I feel that it adds to the overall look, and it weathers better. I used .060 Bass wood cut to replace the kit part. A new lock plate and pin were made from Styrene.

The Plate/Pin are functional as well. the Pin will fit through a hole in the Engine deck lid so I can glue it down without spoiling the wood.

Now on th the front!!

Cheers,
John
